Friendly service, cool vibes. Wandered in for drinks, stayed for food. Great energy, with parties, families, couples, etc. Had the QR code menu thing (which I hate and refuse to use, why would I want to come out just to have everyone staring at their phone) but we were given menus no problem. Food was good with interesting twists on some traditional choices. Bartender was versed on gluten free options. Decent choices for vegetarians as well.
Man, this place is incredible. No frills, this place is straight up high-quality. My drinks were not only layered and original, the food was ROBUST with flavor. I got the ribeye - succulent and tender - worth savoring every bite. The flautas packed some crunch, made even better being layered in a bed of delicious poblano sauce. I personally, enjoyed every bite. An extensive drink menu, a wide variety of Latin options, and spot on service - this is the place to be when you’re looking forward to something special in Bakersfield. Full confidence recommendation.
Fancy restaurant with just as fine cuisine. The ambiance is inviting...great to dress up. Guacamole dip very different....perhaps too watery. Best beet salad ever. Lamb was generous and savory. Lava chocolate cake I must have again. The most superb is the service. We declined table at bar region bc I don't do alcohol and noise level on the other side of wall better for conversation.
Food was soooo good. I was a little nervous when I saw some reviews but we went ahead and tried the empanadas and the wagyu burger. The burger was one of the best burgers I’ve had and the empanadas were incredible as well. I ordered a pea flower martini that was so yummy and some coconut colada drink that blew my mind. My friends ordered the salmon which they loved and a filet that was not quite cooked to their liking but still enjoyed it. The Mac and cheese was alright. For dessert we ordered the cheese caramel flan?? and it was incredible as well! I don’t usually make myself disgustingly full and I did Ambience 10/10. It was so nice being seated upstairs in the velvet green seats. Shout out to Isaac. Very sweet and attentive! He was a great server
This is now my go to restaurant when I travel to Bakersfield and stay downtown. Very close to the Marriott, but I’d recommend taking an Uber as parking sucks and you can avoid walking with all the vagrants. The atmosphere here does not feel like Bakersfield and the spirit selection is 2nd to none. I was able to try some of the extra anejo tequilas that they had and they were excellent. Both the lamb chops and tropical ceviche were bomb! Got to try them and this restaurant.
Zama is hands-down one of our favorite places in Bakersfield. The food is always incredible — fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. Whether it’s the ceviche, the lamb chops, or just some drinks at the bar, we’ve never had a bad experience here. The atmosphere is upscale but still warm and welcoming. It’s perfect for a date night or a dinner with friends, and the service is consistently attentive and kind. We come here regularly and always leave happy. Definitely one of Bakersfield’s gems — highly recommend!
